The Tidelands Trail - Cedar Point, NC I know many of you are hunkered down just trying to get through the winter months. For those of us lucky enough to live here on the coast of NC, we do have some great things to do during the winter months. We love hiking during the off season months and generally the temperatures are good, and the mosquitos are asleep! We recently visited the Tidelands

One of the better kept secrets in our area is the Hammocks Beach State Park. The park is located just minutes from the beautiful small coastal town of Swansboro. This park offers hiking trails, public boat ramp, boat tours over to several close islands, visitor's center, beach access, bath house, picnic area, and campsites. We recently checked out the hiking trails and fell in love with them.

Fort Macon State Park This is one of my favorite spots here on the Crystal Coast. The park really checks a lot of boxes. It's terrific for history buffs as this is a fort that is rich in history, especially the Civil War era. For sightseers the views are some of the best available in all of Carteret County. It was perfect place for a Fort due to the vantage point of protecting the Beaufort
